Who We Are
The Valley Life Housing Group (VLHG) is a not-for-profit, multi-municipal initiative focused on creating long-term housing solutions for the Minnedosa region.
The group represents a collaboration between the municipalities of:
Town of Minnedosa
Harrison Park
Minto-Odanah
Oakview
Yellowhead
Clanwilliam-Erickson
Together, we’re working to create housing that helps people stay connected to the region they call home.
We believe rural communities should
support every stage of life.
That means creating housing options that allow older adults to stay local, families to stay connected and future generations to continue building their lives here.

Why This Matters
In rural communities, the housing crisis looks different.
For many adults, there are few options between maintaining a large family home and moving into a care facility. That often means people leave the communities they helped build simply because there isn’t housing that fits their lifestyle.
For Dean, it meant regular drives to Brandon to check on his mom while balancing work, kids, and family responsibilities. His mom wasn’t ready for a personal care home, but managing a large home on her own had become difficult.
At the same time, Dean began thinking about his own future. In a few years, he wanted more time for golf, travel, family, and weekends at the lake, not home repairs, snow shovelling, and maintaining a property larger than he needed.
He also saw the broader impact on the community:
Older adults and the parents of friends were leaving town.
Fewer homes available for young families.
Pressure to keep healthcare and local services.
Fewer opportunities for future generations to stay local.
That realization brought together a group of people who believed rural communities deserved better housing options.
Valley Ridge Villas was created to help people stay independent, connected, and close to the life they know, while strengthening the future of the community as a whole.
