This is more than a building.

It’s an investment in the future of our community.

Valley Ridge Villas is a community-led 55+ living project designed to help older adults stay local, live independently, and remain connected to the people and places they know best.

Led by the Valley Life Housing Group, this project supports long-term housing, healthcare, and community sustainability across the Minnedosa region.

The group represents a collaboration between the following municipalities:

  • Town of Minnedosa

  • Harrison Park

  • Minto-Odanah

  • Oakview

  • Yellowhead

  • Clanwilliam-Erickson

Rural communities need better housing solutions.

Many adults are looking for the in-between; A home that’s easier to maintain without leaving the community they love.

At the same time:

  • younger families need housing

  • communities need healthcare workers and services

  • and rural towns need long-term infrastructure to thrive.

Valley Ridge Villas is a step towards solving these challenges. Supporting this project means:

  • Keep older adults close to family

  • Open homes for younger generations

  • Strengthen healthcare and local services

  • Support long-term regional growth

  • Keep rural communities connected

This is a project by the community, for the community.

Valley Ridge Villas is a locally-led initiative focused on ensuring that people can continue living in the region that they helped build.

Building something meaningful takes community support.

Communities stay strong
when people can stay connected to them.

Your support helps create housing, strengthen rural infrastructure, and support future generations in our region.

“When I think about why we chose to support this independent living housing project, it comes down to one thing — my roots.

Growing up in Cadurcis, and being connected to Basswood and Minnedosa shaped my life in ways that are difficult to measure. These small rural towns were built by hardworking people who looked after one another, helped neighbours without being asked, and created the kind of community where you always knew you belonged.

After I married Sterling, he was embraced by these same people as if he had grown up here too. Even though I no longer live here, I feel a deep responsibility to give something back.

Supporting this development is our way of saying thank you to the generations who built this community and to the people still working to keep it strong. It’s difficult to see seniors forced to leave the towns they love simply because there is no housing that fits their needs.

When seniors leave, communities lose more than residents. They lose history, mentorship, volunteers, families, and generations of knowledge and relationships that hold rural life together.

What inspired Sterling and I the most was seeing local people step forward with a vision instead of waiting for governments to solve the problem. That reflects the same spirit of resilience and community that has always defined this area.

Rural communities matter. The people who built them matter. And for those of us fortunate enough to grow up here, this is one way we can help.
